“there was a new voice/which you slowly recognized as your own/ that kept you company/as you strode deeper and deeper into the world.” Mary Oliver
At the core of my identity is a love for the mountains, neuroscience, rock climbing, music, theatre, and communicating the complexities of genetics, neurobiology, and the mechanisms of disease to scientists and non-scientists alike.
The brain first captivated me as an undergraduate at Vassar College where I read neurological case studies by Oliver Sacks who, as a neurologist, sought to get inside the experiences of his patients and their hallucinations and delusions.
